Jamey S. Seely

Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Gates Corporation

Ms. Seely is currently the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Gates Corporation, a leading technology and industrial manufacturer. She is both an accomplished executive and business leader. Ms. Seely’s experience includes various roles in mergers & acquisitions, securities and private placements, commercial transactions, corporate governance, and finance transactions including the negotiation of several multi-billion dollar facilities and investments. Ms. Seely also has significant experience in managing through difficult litigation and financial restructurings.

Prior to joining Gates, Jamey Seely was the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of ION Geophysical. Ms. Seely also served as Senior Vice President of Alternative Energy for NRG Energy, Inc. with management and legal oversight of multiple new business and startup ventures related to enhanced oil recovery, solar power and nuclear project development. Prior to NRG Energy, Jamey served as Vice President and General Counsel at Direct Energy, and as Partner in Corporate and Securities Law with Thompson & Knight LLP, a leading private law firm.

Ms. Seely was recently named one of the “Top 50 Trailblazers in Energy Law” by the National Law Journal in 2017 and one of the “Top Women in Energy for 2016” by Texas Lawyer. She has twice been a finalist in the Best Corporate Counsel Awards hosted by the Houston Business Journal and the Association of Corporate Counsel and won the “Champion of Diversity Award” in 2007. In 2008, Diversity Magazine named her one of the “Most Powerful & Influential Women in Texas,” and she was recognized as a Diversity First Award Winner at the Texas Diversity & Leadership Conference.

Education:
Ms. Seely holds a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree magna cum laude at Baylor University. She also holds a Professional Certificate in Energy Innovation & Emerging Technologies from Stanford University. She is licensed to practice in Texas and New York.
