Julie R. Caggiano

Julie R. Caggiano has been General Counsel of Envoy Mortgage, Ltd., a residential mortgage banker headquartered in Houston, Texas, since 2010. Envoy Mortgage has operations in 50 states and over 1,100 employees. She is the chief legal advisor to the senior management team and drives the strategic evolution of the legal function and internal compliance process.

Previously, Julie was Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Sterling Bank (now Comerica Bank), where she provided legal support regarding bank regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions, human resources, and corporate and securities matters. Prior to that, Julie was Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Aegis Mortgage Corporation, a residential mortgage banker, where her responsibilities focused on the legal support of loan production operations, corporate operations, secondary marketing, loan servicing, compliance, and investor and warehouse relationships. Prior to going in-house, Julie was a partner with the law firm of Hughes Watters Askanase for over 15 years, where her practice concentrated on real estate, commercial and consumer financial services, and regulatory compliance.

Julie is a graduate of the University of Miami (B.B.A., Cum Laude), and the University of Houston (J.D., M.B.A.). She is the Chair of the In-House Counsel Roundtable of the Consumer Financial Services Committee of the American Bar Association Business Law Section, Treasurer of the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers, on the Governing Committee of the Conference on Consumer Finance Law, and a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and Texas Mortgage Bankers Association. Her previous positions include Chair of the Membership Committee of the American Bar Association Business Law Section (54,000 members), immediate past Vice-Chair of the Consumer Financial Services Committee of the American Bar Association Business Law Section, a former director of the Houston Bar Association Real Estate Section, and past Treasurer of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) – Houston. She is also the President of the Board of Directors of Eye Care for Kids Foundation and on the Board of Houston Delta Gamma Foundation.
