Martha Melaku

Martha Melaku is Senior Counsel at White Wiggins & Barnes, LLP, in the Firm’s Dallas office. Her primary areas of practice include Real Estate, Estate Planning & Probate, Compliance, and Corporate transactions.

Prior to joining White Wiggins & Barns, LLP, Martha worked for Bank of America ensuring regulatory compliance (RESPA, FCRA, UDAAP, etc.) for residential mortgages. She also directed all aspects of risk management and complaint handling for deposit accounts, credit cards, and mortgage servicing. She also served as a subject matter expert for executive leadership on bankruptcy handling, foreclosure, CFPB and OCC regulations, and FHFA compliance. Martha also worked as an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) specializing in residential and small business loans. She also worked in the field of energy and natural resource law specializing in oil and gas transactions in the Barnett Shale Gas Fields. Most recently, Martha was the managing partner of Melaku and Williams Law PLLC where she handled commercial and residential real estate transaction, contracts, and business organization. Additionally, she provided BAS/AML, FCRA, UDAAP, FDCPA, TCPA and ECOA compliance advice and analysis for a top four U.S. bank and an auto finance company. Martha served as an Affiliate Professor at the University of North Texas Dallas, College of law.
